Overall Cyberlink PowerDVD 15 Ultra is a better Blu-ray player when compared to Corel WinDVD Pro 11.

Both Blu-ray software players played the latest 20th Century Fox Blu-ray discs with the latest encryption perfectly fine when I used a modern graphics card. On the positive side when using a desktop computer with a modern graphics card both Corel WinDVD Pro 11 and Cyberlink PowerDVD 15 Ultra work perfectly fine playing Blu-ray discs (If one ignores the BD-LIVE bonus feature problem with Corel WinDVD Pro 11). So therefore as far as I am aware there is no way to get BD-LIVE to work from Corel WinDVD Pro 11 since I am unable to find any menu options to turn BD-LIVE on or off, etc. When looking up the BD-Live information in the searchable help manual, the Corel WinDVD Pro 11 information contained no useful information except for a brief description of the BD-LIVE feature. With Corel WinDVD Pro 11 there is no PDF manual only a searchable help manual. With Cyberlink PowerDVD 15 Ultra one gets a 192 page PDF manual and a separate searchable help manual. When using Corel WinDVD Pro 11 I looked several times for a menu option for BD-LIVE and I could not find a menu option to tell the program where to save the cache BD-LIVE java files and no option to clear the cache. Cyberlink PowerDVD 15 Ultra also has BD-LIVE cache menu feature that allows one to clear the BD-LIVE java cache along with the menu option to use unlimited amount of storage for BD-LIVE. Cyberlink PowerDVD 15 Ultra works perfectly fine with BD-LIVE. However, I was not able to get the BD-LIVE feature to work at all when using Blu-ray titles that have BD-LIVE bonus content. One would think that calling the software a Blu-ray player instead of a DVD player would increase sells.Ĭorel WinDVD Pro 11 is suppose to be a profile 2.0 BD-LIVE Blu-ray player.

It surprises me that both Cyberlink and Corel name their software players after the DVD format and not the Blu-ray format. All modern standalone Blu-ray players are called “Blu-ray players” and not “DVD players”. I had the opportunity to compare the latest version of Corel WinDVD Pro 11 with the latest version of Cyberlink PowerDVD 15 Ultra. Corel WinDVD Pro 11 does not work with BD-LIVE (Cyberlink PowerDVD 15 Ultra is better quality software)
